Yes in 2002, when this problem started we did contact the Sheriff, Chamber of Commerce, and Whatcom County Parks and yes when the Port a Potty was removed in 2003 thanks to the cooperation of all, the problem did also. I am sorry that you are tired of all this "crap", but come over to my place when the port a potty door is being slammed late at night or when the Riff Raff is hanging out smoking dope in front of small children and see if you would consider this just for myself. We all want what is good for Birch Bay, but understand these washrooms benefit the Commercial Enterprise and that is the best location for them not in front of residential properties. I remind you that we did work cooperatively last time when we asked for them to be relocated. I take offence that you consider the residents selfish and have no say in what goes on, or is successful in Birch Bay.

I hope this person has also alerted the sheriffs department as to the drug dealing, drinking and general late night hanging out.  It seems that should be the first place this complaint should be sent.  I personally am tired of all the “crap” about the port a potties and wish that people could want what is best for the community, not just for themselves and their ”view”.

My name is Peter Van Der Zalm, I am the owner of unit #240 - 8026 Birch Bay Drive. The reason that I am contacting you is the port a potty that is stationed directly in front of my unit. In early 2003 the Mariners Cove Home Owners Association met with Representatives of Whatcom County Parks and The Birch Bay Chamber of Commerce, I was present at this meeting. The meetings discussed the video and photos of drug dealing and the general use as a late night hang out at this port a potty. An agreement was reached that this port a potty would be relocated to an area that did not block the views and submit the residents to late night drinking and drug dealing. I would hope the Chamber would live up to agreements that previous Chamber Boards had made. The homeowners at our Annual General meeting asked George Emmett to remind the Chamber of our agreement reached. He seems to have been ignored as the port a potty is still in place. I trust you will honor this agreement and have the unit moved.
